Steelhead Fishing Packages

Yakutat is home to the Situk River - one of the most prolific wild steelhead rivers in Alaska. The Situk is prolific and one you can easily wade in - as it is 90 feet wide and three feet deep, with holes up to 12 feet. This combination makes it the perfect freshwater fishing destination for anglers of all abilities, and you can also troll for King Salmon in the Bay.

From the Alaska Department of Fish & Game:

The average length of a Situk River steelhead is approximately 30 inches, and in some years as many as 5% of the population is estimated to be of ‘trophy’ size (greater than 36 inches). During peak migrations the catch rates of steelhead on the Situk River are often in excess of 10 fish per day, per angler, especially on guided trips.
